Finally, some good photos of BTCC Nissan Primera from the FIA Class II SuperTouring (prime years 1994-2000)

Updated 12/26/2011 8:13 am – This was the  most epic production car racing.  The most advanced FWD technologies ever developed and ever will be in my opinion.  At the peak of BTCC even Formula One power house was fully involved in BTCC at the factory level.  Frank Williams from Williams F1 for example, developed the Renault Laguna with full Formula One resources.  At the peak in 1997, there, there were MANY FULL FACTORY BACKED teams – Renault, Honda, Nissan, Alfa Romeo, Ford, Peugeot, Volvo, BMW, Audi (did I miss anyone?!?!).  I don’t think it will ever be that EPIC ever again.  The cost of racing got extremely expensive and it crashed and burned by 1999.  Dramatic cost reduction and overhaul was announced and things haven’t been the same.  However in the last few years BTCC and WTCC has been getting better and better again!!  Too bad I don’t think there are any US public broad casts.  I can not stand Nascar at all, I will not watch a minute of that garbage…

That is the Nismo built Unisia Jecs car which they bought from Japan. It was up for sale for about two years, wish I had the money to buy it. I think they essentially refurbished it, zinc coated all steel parts, resprayed the shell etc.

Here are the Primera BTCC photos I promised.

JGTC R34, before they went to VQ (in later R34s), essentially the last RB racecar that Nismo campaigned
